Princess Alexia and Princess Leonor Graduate from UWC in Wales

Princess Alexia and Princess Leonor graduate from UWC

Royal milestone at the so-called real-life Hogwarts School in Wales as two European royal princesses completed their baccalaureate studies. 

Princess Alexia of The Netherlands and Leonor, the Princess of Asturias took their final exams at the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales, United Kingdom with their International Baccalaureate Diploma Programs.

It's a two-year studies which they began attending in September 2021. But while Princess Alexa's older sister, Catharina-Amalia, The Princess of Orange, didn't attend UWC, Princess Leonor's sister, Infanta Sofia is set to follow her footsteps attending UWC this autumn.

Present in the ceremony on May 20 were their respective families, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands. King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, and Infanta Sofia of Spain.

Princess Alexa's father, King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands also completed his two-year baccalaureate diploma at UWC in the 1980s.

In 2020, Belgian future Queen, Princess Elisabeth, the Duchess of Brabant also completed her International Baccalaureate Diploma at UWC.

The Royal House of the Netherlands published a statement: "Her Royal Highness Princess Alexia of the Netherlands has completed her final International Baccalaureate exams at the United World College of the Atlantic. To mark the end of the exam period, UWC Atlantic traditionally holds a Leavers Ceremony, which took place this year on 20 May 2023. Exam results will be announced in early July".

The Spanish royal family also published a statement: "When collecting the diploma, the tutor dedicated a few words to the Princess of Asturias: 'Your love of meaningful conversations knows no bounds. Your unwavering passion for learning, understanding people, and exploring diverse perspectives has truly enriched your UWC experience. We will miss your sense of humor.'"

The Princess of Asturias, who will turn 18, in October this year, will begin her military training in autumn and will map out plan next year where to attend college. Congratulations Princess Alexia and Princess Leonor!

United World College of the Atlantic is a private boarding school located in the Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales. It is based in St. Donat's Castle, a 12th century castle set in 122 acres of  farmland and woodland with its own valley and sea front.

United World College of the Atlantic has school fees for a two year course costing a whopping £67,000. Courses on offer include Tai Chi, the theory of knowledge, and Tibetan literature.
