Their Majesties, King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway began their official two-day state visit to Denmark on June 15. They were welcomed by Her Majesty, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, who is a cousin of the Norwegian monarch.

The Norwegian royals arrived by sea and kicked off their two-day official visit by opening a business conference on Danish industry. They were accompanied by Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

It was a rare moment when King Harald V made an official state visit considering the mobility issues he suffered in the past years. His last overseas public appearance in an official capacity was at the state funeral of his second cousin, Queen Elizabeth II.

The visit is made to strengthen the historical ties and the close neighborly relationship between Denmark and Norway and between the two royal houses.

It was an evening of glamour and glitter as the royals donned their court regalia, sparkling tiaras, and elegant ball gowns! Queen Margrethe II wore a new dress from Danish designer, Birgitte Thaulow. It's a nod to the flag of Denmark as Her Majesty's dress is in a white pattern with red swirls.

Queen Margrethe II wore her favorite Pearl Poire Tiara. Queen Sonja wore a stunning bright green dress and her favorite Emerald Parure Tiara, while the stylish Crown Princess Mary wore a radiant blush pink jacquard dress from Max Mara and her Edwardian Diamond Tiara.

Both Crown Princess Mary and Queen Sonja's ball gowns were repeat outfits. They first wore it to the joint 80th birthday celebration of King Harald V and Queen Sonja herself in 2017.

Crown Princess Mary also wore a necklace with a sweet tribute to her husband. Her necklace has an F pendant, which is attributed to the first letter in Crown Prince Frederik's name.

Queen Margrethe and King Harald both made speeches during the celebration, raising a glass for a toast.

Queen Margrethe said, "It is a great pleasure for me to once again welcome Norway's King and Queen to Denmark. Strong ties bind our countries together. The bonds between our families are long and close, and our personal friendship has grown strongly over the many years we've known each other."

Queen Margrethe II, who just completed her health rehabilitation from back surgery in February this year, was supported by a walking stick as she made her way to Christian VII's Palace for the state banquet.

While we used to watch King Harald V carrying two walking sticks to support his weight during public appearances. He has been suffering from mobility issues since 2019.

We are wishing both King Harald V and Queen Margrethe II good health as they continue to carry public engagements as heads of state of their respective countries.
