His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg marked this year's National Day in a very special way as this is the last National Day celebration he will attend as the country's reigning monarch.
On October 4, 2025, just three days before his actual accession anniversary, he will formally abdicate in favor of his eldest son, Prince Guillaume, the Hereditary Grand Duke. This plan had been announced in 2024 during the National Day celebration also.
Luxembourgian National Day is also known as Grand Duke's Official Birthday celebration. Since he could no longer marked his silver jubilee celebration on the 7th of October, the celebration was included in the National Day this year.
