Initial List of Royals Who Confirmed Attendance to Prince Philip's Memorial Service

Initial list of royals who confirmed attendance to the memorial service, commemorating the life and works of the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, on March 29, 2022 at Westminster Abbey.

👑 King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden and Queen Silvia

👑 Crown Princess Margareta of Romania and her husband, Prince Radu. Princess Margareta (eldest daughter of King Michael I of Romania, is Prince Philip's goddaughter)

👑 Queen Margrethe II of Denmark

👑 King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letezia

👑 King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands, Queen Maxima, and his mother, the former Queen Beatrix (now carrying the title, Princess of Orange)

👑 King Harald V of Norway and his son, Crown Prince Haakon.

All British royals are expected to attend including the Duke's controversial son, Prince Andrew, the Duke of York.

But not Prince Harry, who confirmed he won't be attending due to lack of police protection upon arrival in the U.K.

He also hated the British media, which he thought always discriminating to Meghan Markle 🙃🥱

Harry giving importance to what Meghan feels, rather than paying respect and tribute to his grandfather's memory is so gross and disappointing.

With the exemption of the Dutch royals, all attendees are Prince Philip's blood relatives - double, triple cousins 😄 It depends which family tree you're tracing.

It's a bit complicated to illustrate a family tree on the blood links of the Duke of Edinburgh to these royals because of the sub-branches of ancestors linking them.

For instance Queen Margrethe II of Denmark (his triple third cousin). She descended from Queen Victoria's two sons on her mother's side: Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany.

While her father, King Frederick IX, was Prince Philip's second cousin (just like King George VI of UK and King Olaf V of Norway) through King Christian IX of Denmark. Queen Margrethe II's step grandmother, Queen Louise, was Prince Philip's maternal aunt.

King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden is a first cousin of Queen Margrethe II. Just removed Christian IX branch, and his blood links to Philip are the same that of Margrethe II.

Another complicated bloodline is that of King Felipe VI of Spain. His mother, Queen Sofia, is Prince Philip's niece through King George I of Greece, and third cousin through Queen Victoria (Sofia's grandmother, also named Sophia, wife of King Constantine I of Greece, was a granddaughter of Victoria through her oldest daughter, Princess Vicky).

While his father, ex-King Juan Carlos, is Prince Philip's double third cousin. Juan Carlos great-grandmother, Princess Beatrice, was the younger sister of Prince Philip's great-grandmother, Princess Alice.

Princess Beatrice's husband, Prince Henry of Battenberg, was the younger brother of Prince Philip's grandfather, Prince Louis of Battenberg (he was made Louis Mountbatten, 1st Marquess of Milford-Haven, in 1917).

Crown Princess Margareta is the eldest daughter of King Michael I of Romania, who, we all know, was Philip's childhood playmate and closest cousin.

Crown Princess Margareta of Romania and her late father, King Michael I who died in December 2017

Add to the equation was Michael's wife, Queen Ana, both their second cousin through Christian IX of Denmark. In fact, King Michael and Queen Ana met in 1947 when they both attended the wedding of Philip and Elizabeth. Margareta is also a goddaughter of Prince Philip.

It's also through the bloodline of Prince Philip that his children become descendants of all Russian emperors. Philip's grandmother, Queen Olga, was a granddaughter of Emperor Nicholas I of Russia.
