HRH Prince Sebastien of Luxembourg: Royal Profile



Prince Sebastien is the youngest child of the five children of Their Royal Highnesses, Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. He was born on April 16, 1992. He shared a birthday with his father who was born on April 16, 1955.

He has three older brothers, Prince Guillaume (The Hereditary Grand Duke of Luxembourg), Prince Felix and Prince Louis, and one sister, Princess Alexandra.

Prince Sebastien obtained a degree in Marketing and International Business at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio. The following year, in September 2016, he began a 44-weeks officer training course at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, UK. 

He graduated in August 2017 and qualified as an Officer Cadet following his training. On 4 September 2017, he took the oath as an officer of the Luxembourg Army and currently serving as a platoon commander in the 1st Bn Irish Guards, a regiment of the British Army in which his grandfather, Grand Duke Jean, served during the Second World War.

In July 2019, Prince Sebastien took part in the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Buckingham Palace and he was the flag-bearer of the 1st Batallion Irish Guards, in which he commanded. His batallion stationed at Hounslows Barracks in London.

His proud parents, the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, were invited as the Queen's guests to watch the ceremony. They later posed for a snap in which Prince Sebastien took off his bearskin hat, a black dog, his regiment's mascot, was also seen in front.

He is currently seventh in the line of succession to the Luxembourgian throne behind his older sister, Princess Alexandra. One of his older brothers. He is a patron of the Luxembourg Federation of Swimming and Rescue (FLNS).
