View Gallery: The Lovely Three Dutch Princesses in Fun Family Outings

King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands have three daughters and no son.  And he is a cool father who looks so devoted to his daughters and proud of his role as a girl-dad.

Willem married Argentinian investment banker, Maxima Zorreguieta, on February 2, 2002. Their first daughter, Princess Catharina-Amalia, was born on December 10, 2003, followed by Princess Alexia on June 26, 2005.  The youngest, Princess Ariane, was born on April 10, 2007. All girls were born at Bronovo Hospital in The Hague.

King Willem-Alexander became monarch on April 30, 2013 upon the abdication of his mother, Queen Beatrix, now known as Princess Beatrix of Orange-Nassau.

The Dutch constitution already switched to Absolute primogeniture succession in 1983 making the king's eldest child, Princess Catharina-Amalia, the heir-apparent.

The Netherlands is also the first monarchy in the world to allow the heir-to-the-throne to marry the same sex person, if he or she wishes to.

In October 2021, its Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, in a letter to parliament, stated that the monarch and the heir to the throne, are free to marry a person of same sex if they wish to, without being forced to give up its place in the line of succession or abdicate. This move indicates the country's strong support to the LGBTQ community.

His father also went to the same school in late 1980s.

The youngest, Princess Ariane, who just celebrated her 15th birthday, started secondary school in 2019  at Christelijk Gymnasium Sorghvliet in The Hague, the same school of her two older sisters. And she arrived in school on a bike, the traditional Dutch method.

The princesses have strong inclination to sports and music. In school, they both love to play hockey and tennis. They also love to play the violin and the piano. And like horse riding, swimming, and  ballet.

The family traditionally released annual family portraits taken outdoor, mostly just in the garden of their home in The Hague. The family photos showed how close the girls to each other and to their parents. It also showed how cool dad the king is!

In 2015, the family chose the sandy shores of Meijendel beach in Wassenaar, The Hague for their family photo session for summer. They brought their two beloved dogs for the family outing.

They also love to spend winter breaks skiing in the Austrian Alps of Lech. But there are times they go abroad for the summer break.

Sometimes the Dutch royals go abroad for the summer holiday but trips are rarely published in the papers. For instance in January 2016, when they traveled to  the United States unannounced.

The family chose to soak up in the Miami sunshine at the start of the year in 2016, and enjoyed late dinner later in a hotspot Juvia restaurant.

Onlookers noted the Dutch royals were just casual in their dining outing. And tried the restaurant's best-selling dishes such as the pork tacos, toro nigiri, and mixed salad. Willem-Alexander ordered the Perigord Risotto, while the Queen dined on Grilled Salmon.
