Confirmed Royal Guests To Princess Ingrid Alexandra's 18th Birthday Gala Dinner

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway

There's a big royal event coming in tonight in Norway as King Harald V and Queen Sonja will host an 18th birthday gala dinner for their granddaughter, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, the eldest child of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Norway.

The second-in-line to the Norwegian throne turned 18 on January 21, 2022, but the gala dinner was postponed due to the pandemic. The Norwegian royal court had set the date to June 17, 2022, Friday.

Usually, the coming-of-age birthday celebrations of the direct heirs of any reigning royal house are huge royal events, thus, the 18th birthday of Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway, who is a direct heir, is a much-anticipated royal event this year.

In addition to the royal guests, other attendees are Norwegian government officials and representatives of several Norwegian organizations.

No British royals?

But there's one glaring missing in the royal guest list - where are the British royals? The Norwegian royals are their cousins. King Harald V and Queen Elizabeth II are second cousins through King Edward VII.

We also have no idea, but perhaps due to a conflict of schedules. The British royal family's royal calendar is so filled up this year because of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration. Members of the royal family have been attending public events on behalf of Her Majesty, so an overseas appearance at a gala dinner sounds so impossible to fit into their schedule.

We also did not see members of the Liechtenstein family attending any royal events in Europe in recent months. Looks like they are completely isolating themselves from the royal gatherings on the continent.

Note that both Queen Letizia of Spain and King Philippe of the Belgians are not appearing with their respective spouses at the gala dinner. We heard they have previous commitments scheduled for the same day.

Significant moments

What is exciting about Princess Ingrid Alexandra's 18th birthday gala dinner is the many first moments that we will be seeing.

The Duchess of Brabant and the Princess of Orange

This will be the first time that we will see the reunion of future queens: The Princess of Orange, the Duchess of Brabant, Princess Estelle, and Princess Ingrid Alexandra.

We will also see tiara debuts of the future queens. And we cannot wait for what tiara they will be wearing for the first time. And would we see the future queens pose for a group picture? Hopefully.

It's also exciting to watch the youngest of all royal guests, the two-year-old Prince Charles of Luxembourg! It's so amazing to know his parents will bring him overseas to attend a gala dinner, considering no royal toddler has ever been brought to a royal dinner event.

Prince Aristides-Stavros, Prince Constantine Alexios, and their father, Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece

We're also excited to see the two handsome sons of Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece attending the event, Prince Constantine Alexios, 23, and Prince Aristides-Stavros, 14.

Government-sponsored birthday dinner

Before the royal gala dinner could happen, the Norwegian government also hosted a birthday dinner for the princess on June 16, 2022. The event saw the members of the Norwegian royal family come together to support the young princess.

And she did not disappoint with the first formal dinner organized for her! The princess wore a stunning pastel gown designed by US-based designer, Monique Lhuillier. The embellished tulle sweetheart-style gown looks so elegant on Princess Ingrid Alexandra.

"The gorgeous tulle dress is a strapless style made with underwire cups, a cinched waist and a full, A-line skirt", according to the website description of the gown as reported by The Express.

She also wore a pair of nude pumps with red soles from Christian Louboutin, believed to have belonged to her mother, Crown Princess Mette-Marit. She accessorized her outfit with a white shawl, a clutch bag by Tod's, and yes, another borrowed item from her mother, the Cartier ring.

Official Tiara Debut

Finally! We saw Princess Ingrid Alexandra made a tiara debut officially! The Norwegian royal court released three photos of the princess debuting with a tiara.

This tiara is the one that has been anticipated by royal fans to be worn by Princess Ingrid Alexandra because we've heard Princess Ragnhild, the older sister of King Harald V, who died in 2012, passed this tiara to her.

The Princess Ingeborg Circlet Pearl Tiara was purchased by Prince Carl of Sweden from Boucheron for his wife, Princess Ingeborg, daughter of King Frederik VIII of Denmark, and Princess Louise of Sweden.

They were the parents of Queen Astrid of Belgium and Crown Princess Martha of Norway, the mother of King Harald V. Princess Ingeborg passed down the tiara to her granddaughter, Princess Ragnhild, the eldest child of Crown Princess Martha.

The tiara features interlocking diamond circles set in platinum, each circle hangs dropped pearls. It was worn by Princess Ragnhild to the wedding of then Crown Prince Harald in 1968 and then to the wedding of Crown Prince Haakon in 2002.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra also wore the Order of St. Olav, King Harald’s Family Order, the Royal House Centennial Medal and King Harald V’s Jubilee Medal 1991-2016.

More pictures tonight when royals gather together for the gala dinner. Happy birthday Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway!
