Stylish Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia Stepped out in Joint Public Engagement

The Spanish royal siblings are our ultimate summer fashion goal for this year! Both are effortlessly beautiful and stylish during their recent public outings. We love how they add glamour to the high street fashion dresses they picked for their royal engagement.

Just days after their family outing watching the Flamenco show in June, Princess Leonor and her only sibling, Infanta Sofia had a sisterly bonding in Figueres when they attended two successive events on Sunday without their parents, King Felipe VI of Spain and Queen Letizia.

However, it was not the first time the Spanish royal sisters had a joint public outing. In July 2021, they had a first joint public engagement without their parents when they participated in a tree planting activity with the Spanish youths.

The Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia paid a visit to Figueres Girona with the Princess of Girona Foundation to take part in a working session on the new programs of the foundation. They were joined by other participants.

The Princess of Girona Foundation is a private foundation set up by civil society entities in Girona, Spain in 2009. The main objective of this foundation according to its website is to work for young people in all areas that are critical for their future.

The current honorary chairman is His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain, on behalf of his daughter, Leonor, Princess of Asturias, who is still a minor. When Princess Leonor will turn 18 next year, she is expected to take over the honorary chairmanship of this foundation from her father.

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia then proceeded to the Dali Museum accompanied by the young people they met in the working session of the Princess of Girona Foundation.

The DalĂ Museum is such an interesting art establishment. It's also a theatre, and considered as the largest surrealistic object in the world.

Both sisters wore the ultimate footwear fashion statement for summer, the espadrille wedges! It's so cute to see them twinning in espadrilles after their mother, Queen Letizia, did the same with US First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, during the NATO Summit in Madrid.

This latest joint public outing of Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia without their parents showed them all grown-up to be working royals. Bonus is their stylish personality in choosing the best fashion for the season.

We love the way they developed a taste in fashion. We have witnessed them gracing public events with their parents while they were still kids, and clearly, their taste in fashion has evolved over the years.

Just like mom!

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia's espadrille wedges reminded us of the twinning moment of Queen Letizia and US First Lady Dr. Jill Biden during the NATO Summit where they also wore espadrille wedges. Infanta Sofia is really a fan of wedged espadrilles, she has been spotted many times in public wearing espadrilles.

Why Espadrilles are the ultimate footwear for summer

Espadrilles are footwear fashionable `shoes that originated in Spain. It is a light canvas pair of shoes with a plaited fiber sole.

The term espadrille comes from the Catalan word "espardenya" which means "to allude to esparto grass". It is an indigenous southern European plant that was used in the making of espadrilles. The esparto plant is traditionally used in the making of ropes and baskets as well as providing the material for the iconic sole of the espadrilles.

It is a coarse and wiry plant, and therefore well suited as the sole of light and practical shoes, according to an article in Costumes Society about espadrilles.

It is popularly worn during the spring or summer season because it provides comfort to the feet and toes during warm weather. It can go perfectly with any outfit, may it be a dress or pants or shorts, and it is lighter to carry. It looks classy in a summer or spring dress.
