Buckingham Palace officially announced the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8, 2022, at 6:30 in the early evening. The Queen died at her summer residence in Balmoral estate, just two days after she formally appointed the 47-year-old Mary Elizabeth Truss as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
His Majesty King Charles III, who is now the Head of the House of Windsor, released a statement following his mother's death, posted in the social media accounts of The Royal Family.
"The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.
We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms, and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.
During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held".
Sarah, Duchess of York, the ex-wife of the Queen's second son, Prince Andrew, who remained close to Her Majesty even after the divorce, pinned a touching message on her instagram, praising her former mother-in-law's resilience, generosity, and kindness.

Hours after the announcement, messages of sympathy and condolences from World Leaders and members of the Royal Family around the world were sent to the new British monarch, King Charles III.
Most of the messages sent to the British Royal Family touched a deep cord as the World Leaders and royals shared their personal experiences in meeting the Queen, who was the longest-sitting Head of State in the world.
Most of the reigning royal families in Europe are cousins of Her Majesty through Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom and King Christian IX of Denmark, so the words of sympathy are more special and become personal.
Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece emphasized the generosity and kindness extended by the Queen to his parents, Constantine II, former King of Greece, and Queen Anne-Marie, during their times of need.
The younger brother of Crown Prince Pavlos, Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark, also posted a personal message on his instagram @skylightchaser.Â
