The medal is awarded to Princess Charlene in recognition of her sporting career and her commitment to the sporting life in Monaco.

Before she met Prince Albert, the former Charlene Wittstock was a professional swimmer, and represented South Africa in the 2000 Sydney Olympics.Â

Princess Charlene received her medal on the occasion of the presentation of the Physical Education and Sports Medal in Monaco on November 18.
