Queen Camilla Hosted A Reception At Buckingham Palace For an Important Cause

Queen Camilla hosts reception in Buckingham Palace

On November 29, 2022, Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace to support the United Nation's program on raising awareness on the Elimination of Violence Against Women. 

The special event was also attended by Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Queen Rania of Jordan, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, and Sophie, The Countess of Wessex.

The guests were survivors of abuse, charity representatives, politicians, and ambassadors who gathered at Buckingham Palace, with one aim – to see the end of violence against women and girls.  The Queen Consort delivered a speech where she said, "I was deeply moved and inspired by their stories. With determination and courage, we will see the end of these heinous crimes, forever"

The event marked the United Nation's 16-day aim to eliminate violence against women. Addressing guests at the reception hall, Her Majesty said:

"We are uniting today to confront, rightly, what has been called a global pandemic of violence against women. Faced with such challenges, it can be hard to know what practical steps we can take to even begin to make a difference.”

Before the reception in Buckingham Palace, Queen Camilla welcomed Queen Rania of Jordan and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark to Clarence House for afternoon tea. King Charles III and Queen Camilla still reside in Clarence House and just use Buckingham Palace for official royal events.
