His Majesty, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden aims to visit 21 Swedish counties this year on the occasion of his Golden Jubilee as Swedish monarch.

In the first week of February this year, His Majesty, accompanied by his wife, Queen Silvia, visited Nyköping (Newmarket in English), a Swedish locality and the seat of Nyköping Municipality, in the Södermanland County in Sweden.

It has an estimated 32,759 inhabitants as of 2017. The city is also the capital of Södermanland County. The King and Queen visited Södermanland Museum and the city bridge. They spent lunch at Nyköping House.

Yesterday, Their Majesties visited Jönköping, a city in southern Sweden with 112,766 inhabitants as of 2022. Jönköping is situated on the southern shore of Sweden's second-largest lake, Vättern, in the province of Småland.

The city is the seat of Jönköping Municipality, which has a population of 144,699 as of 2022 and is Småland's most populous municipality.

The King and Queen visited the Cultural Center and unveiled the memorial stone. They also met local associations and residents and had lunch a the Governor's residence.

This year, 2023, would be a period for the Swedish royals as the King marks his Golden Jubilee celebration on the Swedish throne. 

Apart from the King and Queen, their children and in-laws, who are working royals (except for Princess Madeleine's husband, Chris O'Neil) have scheduled activities all throughout Sweden to represent His Majesty.

Currently, Crown Princess Victoria and her husband, Prince Daniel, are in Australia and New Zealand for an official visit, while the King's only son, Prince Carl Philip, Duke of Varmland, recently inaugurated Rally Sweden in Umea. He also participated by running in a shorter part of the competition.

Rally Sweden is one of the 13 competitions in the world about rally championships. it is an automobile rally competition held in February in Värmland, Sweden, the duchy of Prince Carl Philip.

Carl XVI Gustaf became King of Sweden on September 15, 1973, at the age of 27, upon the death of his grandfather, King Adolf VI Gustaf.

In 1950, when Adolf VI Gustaf ascended to the Swedish throne, Prince Carl was only four years old. He became the Crown Prince of Sweden because his father, Prince Adolf Gustaf, Duke of Vasterbotten, died in a plane crash in January 1947 when he was only nine months old.
