British Royals Attend First Commonwealth Service in King Charles Reign

Senior members of the British royal family came together on March 13, 2023, to attend the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey. 

Commonwealth Day is an annual celebration observed by people all over the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe.

King Charles III arrives in Westminster Abbey 

This is the first Commonwealth Day in the reign of His Majesty King Charles III and as Head of the Commonwealth.

This year's Commonwealth Day marks the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Commonwealth Charter,  which was signed by Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 11 March 2013.

Commonwealth Day Fashion

Catherine, the Princess of Wales wore a peplum navy blue jacket with matching skirt from Erdem. She accesorized it with a bespoke Philip Treacy hat and a pair of Gianvito Rossi navy pumps.

Catherine wore the double sapphire earrings of Princess Diana and the Queen Alexandra Brooch without the emerald pendant.

This is the first Commonwealth Day service also that Edward and Sophie assumed new titles as Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. 

Following the church service, King Charles III hosted a reception for Commonwealth leaders in Buckingham Palace.
