Danish Royal Court Announces Move of Prince Joachim's Family to the United States

Prince Joachim of Denmark moves to the United States

This issue has been discussed in the royal circle for quite a while and finally confirmed by the Danish Royal Court today.

The official announcement says Their Royal Highnesses Prince Joachim and Princess Marie will move to Washington, D.C in the summer of 2023.

Prince Joachim will assume a new position in the Ministry of Defense on September 1, 2023. He will work as a defense attache in the Danish embassy in Washington, D.C.

He will also function as Denmark's representative in strengthening the defense industrial cooperation with the United States and Canada.

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie with their two children, Henrik and Athena, moved to France in 2019. Prince Joachim attended a highest-ranking military training in Paris as a supplemental course to his defense career.

He the worked in the Danish embassy in Paris as a diplomat while Princess Marie assumed a role of Danish special cultural representative.

However, in September last year, the Prince Joachim's relationship to his mother, Queen Margrethe II, became strained when the monarch made a surprise announcement of stripping Joachim's four children of royal titles, which took effect in January 2023.

Prince Joachim and Princess Marie's two children, Count Henrik and Countess Athena of Monpezat will move with them to the United States, but Count Nikolai and Count Felix might stay in Denmark as they have their respective careers.
