Britain's Princess Eugenie Welcomes Second Son and Shares Significance of Names

A new royal baby is born!

Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie gave birth to her second child on May 30, 2023. Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that Prince Andrew's youngest daughter welcomed a baby boy. 

“Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their son, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank. Ernest was born on Tuesday, 30th May, and weighed 7lbs 1oz,” the statement said.

Princess Eugenie posted the first photos of her baby to instagram on Monday, June 5, 2023, and shared details about her second son's names.

“Jack and I wanted to share the news that we had our little boy, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank on 30th May 2023 at 8.49 weighing 7.1lbs,” Princess captioned the photos. “He is named after his great-great-great grandfather George (King George VI), his Grandpa George (father of Jack Brooksbank), and my Grandpa Ronald (father of Sarah, |Duchess of York). Augie is loving being a big brother already.”

The first photo showed the sleeping newborn snuggled up in a blue knit hat, followed by a second photo showing big brother August gently touching his baby brother’s head.

Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank takes his place in the line of succession to the British throne at 13th position below his older brother August. His birth made other royals fell one notch below the line of succession, including two working royals, the Princess Royal and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Ernest is the first member of the British royal family to be born in the reign if King Charles III, and the first great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II to be born after her death.
