On July 24, 2013, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced that they would name their child George Alexander Louis. The young prince was named after his paternal great-great grandfather, King George VI of Britain and King George I of Greece. Alexander for his paternal ancestor, Prince Alexander of Hesse and by Rhine (maternal great-grandfather of Prince Philip). Louis for Lord Louis Mountbatten, the maternal uncle of Prince Philip. It's also one of the given names of Prince William.

Prince George was christened on Wednesday, 23rd October 2013 at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace by The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.

In keeping with Royal tradition, Prince George wore the hand-made replica of the Royal Christening Robe, made by Angela Kelly, Dressmaker to The Queen. The Lily Font and water from the River Jordan were also used during the baptism.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose the following people to be Godparents to Prince George: Mr Oliver Baker, Mrs David Jardine-Paterson, Earl Grosvenor (Hugh) now the 7th Duke of Westminster (his mother is also Prince William's godmother), Mr. Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, The Hon. Mrs. Michael Samuel, Zara Phillips-Tindall (William's cousin), and Mr. William van Cutsem.

In April 2014, Prince George accompanied his parents on their official three week tour of New Zealand and Australia, and received a warm welcome in both countries.

On 6th January 2016 at the age of two years old and six months, Prince George started at the Westacre Montessori School nursery in Norfolk near their Sandringham home.

In September 2017, Prince George attended Thomas's Battersea School near Kensington Palace until 2022.

In the summer of 2022, the family moved to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Home Park. Prince George and his siblings, Charlotte and Louis, have attended Lambrook, an independent preparatory school in Berkshire.

Prince George took part in his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebration in June 2022 including the Trooping the Colour carriage procession.

In September 2022, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince George became second in line to the throne when his grandfather ascended the British throne as Charles III. He also became known as Prince George of Wales.

At King Charles Coronation in May this year, Prince George performed a prominent role as a page of honour. He is the first future British king who performed an official role at the British sovereign Coronation.

For the occasion of George's 10th birthday, the Prince and Princess of Wales released a new official portrait of their first born snapped by Millie Pilkington.

This is the first birthday photo of Prince George not taken by his mother Kate. Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis's birthday photo this year released by their parents were also not taken by Kate but by Millie Pilkington.

In the photo, Prince George looked so refreshing in his powder blue polo shirt and denim pants wearing his brightest smile while posing like a grownup man in the concrete staircase.
