On January 6, 2024, Leonor, the Princess of Asturias performed her first public duty as an official working member of the Spanish royal family at Pascua Militar in Madrid, Spain.
Known in English as Military Easter, Pascua Militar, is an annual traditional event in Spain taking place every 6th of January, a public Holiday in the country honoring the Feast Day of Epiphany. Â

The tradition dates back to the 18th century and was established by King Charles III of Spain to celebrate the Franco-Spanish army’s recapture of the Menorcan town Mahon from the British in 1782.
King Felipe VI, accompanied by Queen Letizia and their daughter, Princess Leonor, presided over the ceremony in Madrid. The event started with the New Year’s Military Parade outside the Royal Palace. After playing the National Anthem, King Felipe reviewed the Royal Guard.

The King in his speech proudly introduced his daughter, the Princess of Asturias, who attended the event for the first time as a working royal.Â
"This celebration is not just another one for the Crown. It is the 10th Military Easter that I have the honor of presiding over and it happily coincides with the fact that for the first time, the Princess of Asturias accompanies us; who, as a Lady Cadet of the General Military Academy, has started her military training plan this year. So – along with the Queen and the Princess –, as Supreme Commander, I am happy I would like to convey my congratulations and annual recognition to the members of the Armed Forces and the Civil Guard, to the members of the National Intelligence Center, and to the group of men and women, civil and military, who, in the Ministry or in any field, serve the Defense and National Security"...
