The Spanish Royals Perform Last Public Engagement Before They Take Their Annual Summer Break

Today, July 25, 2022, King Felipe VI of Spain, his wife, Queen Letizia, and their daughters, Leonor, The Princess of Asturias, and Infanta Sofia, perform last public engagement outside Madrid before they take their annual summer break,

They royal family traveled to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain to attend the National Offering to the Apostle Saint James The Great (known in Spanish as Santiago), the Patron Saint of Spain.

The National Offering to the Apostle of Saint James is an annual public engagement performed by the Spanish monarch since the 17th century. It is believed Saint James the Great was buried at Compostela.

King Felipe VI and his family joined the crowd as they presided over the National Offering at 12:00 noon today. After the ceremony, they have to fly back to Madrid where the King will have to receive several audiences.

Queen Letizia will also have a scheduled meeting on mental health at the UNICEF headquarters in Madrid on July 27. After that, the Spanish royals will have to travel to Palma de Mallorca for their annual summer break.

During their public appearance today, Queen Letizia and Princess Leonor are the vision of summer as they coordinated in bright outfits that reflect the warmth and vibrancy of summer, while Infanta Sofia opted for a chic powder blue dress and ballet shoes.

Princess Leonor donned a chic bi-colored Yasmin dress from Cayrowoman fashion brand, which she paired with a pair of nude Carolina Herrera slingback shoes. She also curled her beautiful long locks.

Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia truly impressed us with their fashion choices this year. They slowly emerged as the new stylish princesses in Europe as they transitioned into gorgeous young ladies. 

They have distinct fashion styles, but are equally gorgeous and very feminine. We have not seen yet Princess Leonor wearing a mini-dress just like Infanta Sofia. The Princess of Asturias regularly picked long dresses for her public outings.

Princess Leonor will turn 17 this coming October 31, 2022, while Infanta Sofia just turned 15 on April 30, 2022. They are first and second in line of succession to the Spanish throne respectively.

The sisterly bond between Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia has become closer as they begin to perform public duties on their own as working royals. 

Just last week, they traveled to London for their first joint solo engagements when they attended the UEFA Women's football match between Denmark and Spain.

The Spanish royal court has no other working royals except the direct family of King Felipe VI. His two older sisters, Infanta Elena and Infanta Cristina, are not working royals. 

His mother, Queen Sofia of Spain, officially performed royal duties in her capacity as the mother of the king and the former Queen Consort.

The King and Queen and their daughters are expected to attend public events during their summer break in Palma de Mallorca as is customary for the Spanish royals to mingle with the public when they are on the island.

Princess Leonor seems becoming more at ease with her role as future Queen of Spain, giving speeches, gracing public engagements, and facing reporters. In the first week of this month, she attended the Princess of Girona Awards with her family and gave a speech during the ceremony.

They also regularly seen visiting several significant sites in the island during their stay. The Spanish royal family's summer residence in Palma de Mallorca is Marivent Palace. Marivent means "sea and winds" in Majorcan.

Palma de Mallorca is the capital of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands in Spain. It is situated on the south coast of Mallorca on the Bay of Palma. It is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Spain.

The summer holidays of the European royals have truly begun.
