After King Harald V of Norway's participation in the Sailing Regatta competition in Geneva, Switzerland, another European monarch competed in a similar event, this time in the Balearic Islands in Spain.

King Felipe VI, a keen sailor who, just like the Norwegian king, was a former Olympian in the sailing event, participated in the 40th edition of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE sailing regatta in Mallorca, Spain.

The 54-year-old Spanish king combined work and pleasure during his family vacation in Palma de Mallorca. The Spanish royals have been on the island for their summer holiday break since July 28, 2022.

His Majesty attended a series of public engagements in Balearic islands, where Palma de Mallorca is located, at the same time nurturing his passion for sailing.

The sailing race and the family summer break in Palma de Mallorca are the only moments where the royal fans and members of the public get an opportunity to see the "Adonis" king in his most casual look.

Just like his father, King Juan Carlos of Spain who returned home in May to participate in a sailing regatta in Galicia, King Felipe VI annually competed in the Copa del Rey Sailing Regatta aboard his sailboat, Aifos, with his crewmates. He is always the Skipper (captain) of his team during competition.
