The Earl and Countess of Wessex's eldest child, Lady Louise, 18, is set to study English, Political Science, and Drama, at The University of St. Andrews in Scotland, but before she'll start her university life, the Queen's youngest granddaughter works at Garden Centre to gain experience.
Lady Louise's cousins, Prince William, Prince Harry, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, took a gap year before they began university and worked on various charities and part-time job to gain actual work experience, however, Lady Louise decided to start her university life right away.
But before the opening of classes at St. Andrews University this September, she is reportedly working at a Garden Centre at a minimum wage.
The 16th in line to the British throne has been earning £6.63 per hour since finishing her A-levels in June this year.
She is reportedly working as a helper in the garden where she greets customers and also helps in pruning and potting plants.
One customer told The Sun, “I knew the cost-of-living crisis was bad, but I didn't think I'd ever see a grandchild of the Queen working in a garden centre.”
“The staff seemed to adore her. It's not every day you buy your begonias off a royal,” another shopper expressed while a third commented: “I couldn't believe it was Lady Louise, I had to look twice.”
“She is a really modest and sweet young woman who is polite and attentive to customers. She seemed to be loving the job".
“You'd never imagine the Queen's granddaughter would take on a role working behind a till,” the customer added.
Lady Louise is set to live at St. Salvator's dorm beginning this September. The same building inside St. Andrews University where her cousin, Prince William, had stayed during his university days.
