Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands and Queen Maxima made a three-day state visit to Sweden on the invitation of His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. They were welcomed by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel at the airport.
But the most touching moment was when Crown Princess Victoria allowed her young daughter, Princess Estelle, to take part in the welcome ceremony. Royal children are not traditionally part of the welcome ceremony of royal visits because they are considered too young to understand the ceremony.

The exemption was made for the 10-year-old Princess Estelle so that she could personally welcome and meet her godfather, King Willem-Alexander. And it was a sweet moment as godfather and goddaughter greeted each other with a hug, with the King bending his knees to see his goddaughter eye to eye.Â

It was their first meeting in four months. Their last meeting was in Oslo when they both attended the 18th Birthday Gala Night of Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway.Â
The Dutch monarch was obviously delighted to see his goddaughter growing up fast into a little lady. During picture taking, King Willem-Alexander was heard saying: "My good daughter here, here, I want my goddaughter here" 😄 prompting Queen Maxima to move a step to give a space for Princess Estelle.Â
