Grand Ducal House of Luxembourg Announces Engagement of Princess Alexandra

Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg officially announced the engagement of their only daughter, Princess Alexandra, to Nicolas Bagory, today, November 7, 2022, Monday.

The official statement from the Grand Ducal house read:

“Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter, Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra, to Mr. Nicolas Bagory.”

“Born on November 11, 1988, Mr. Bagory grew up in Brittany. After studying political science and classics, he now works on the creation of social and cultural projects. The wedding will take place in the spring. The two families join in the happiness of the engaged couple by surrounding them with their affection".

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa also shared another photo of the couple on her instagram with the caption, "Great happiness to announce the engagement of our daughter, Alexandra, to Nicolas Bagory".

Princess Alexandra will be the first royal princess who is the daughter of a reigning European Crown Head to get married in nine years after Princess Madeleine of Sweden in 2013.

She was born on February 16, 1991, as Alexandra Joséphine Teresa Charlotte Marie Wilhelmine, Princess of Luxembourg, Princess of Nassau, and Bourbon-Parma. 

She is the only daughter and fourth child of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa and is currently sixth in the line of succession to the Luxembourgian throne. 

However, she will be moved to seventh place in April 2023 once Princess Stephanie will give birth to her second child. Prince Guillaume and Princess Stephanie announced second pregnancy in September this year.

Princess Alexandra obtained a bachelor's degree in Philosophy and a master's degree in inter-religious studies from the Irish School in Dublin. 

She gained some experience in journalism during her stay in the Middle East and subsequently in international relations through an internship at the Security Council of the United Nations.

Her Royal Highness is a polyglot and is fluent in Luxembourgish, French, English and Spanish. She also has a good knowledge of German and Italian.

According to the Grand Ducal House of Luxembourg, the couple will wed in the springtime of 2023. Congratulations to Princess Alexandra and Nicolas Bagory. We will be looking forward to your royal wedding next year!

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, made an announcement on December 29, 2022, that the civil wedding of her only daughter, Princess Alexandra, and Nicolas Bagory will be held on April 22, 2023, at the City Hall of Luxembourg.

The religious ceremony will be held on April 29, 2023, at the  Saint Trophyme Church of Bormes Les Mimosas, an 18th century Catholic church in Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur in France.
