Royal Fans Are Divided on Queen Maxima's Unusual Sleeves During State Banquet

Queen Maxima of The Netherlands created quite a stir among royal fans over her striking red dress with unusual sleeves. With other commenting "the dress maybe regal but it might be difficult to eat". 

The Dutch Queen wore this ravishing showstopper off-the-shoulder red dress by Claes Iversen, during the state banquet hosted by King Willem-Alexander for the visiting French president, Emmanuel Macron.

Royal fans absolutely adored Queen Maxima's regal appearance, however, many took a notice on the elaborate sleeves of her elegant dress. The off-the-shoulder dress featured maxi puffy sleeves.

One commenter on social media said, "I wish the sleeves were less puffy"

But we absolutely loved this look of Queen Maxima. She looked so regal and glamorous, and the off-the-shoulder cut of her dress made her absolutely gorgeous.\

Queen Maxima also dazzled in royal jewels - an Antique Pearl Tiara, a Pearl necklace, pearl dropped earrings, and a Stomacher. She is the remaining royal in Europe who still wore the corsage pearl or diamond brooch as a Stomacher.

She wore the Antique Pearl Tiara in a complete setting (the tiara can be worn without the base). This stunning tiara was made in 1900 from pearls that had been in the Dutch Royal Family since the 17th century. 

It is also known as the Pavlovnik Pearl Tiara because the design was similar to the tiara originally worn by Queen Anna (born Grand Duchess Anna Pavlovna of Russia), the wife of King William II of The Netherlands.

The Stomacher features a large diamond bow from which a pearl pendant is suspended there's a diamond-studded chain that also hangs from the brooch, supporting a smaller diamond bow brooch and a pair of additional pearl pendants. Within the piece are several rare pink diamonds.

Also in attendance during the State Banquet was the King's younger brother, Prince Constantijn of The Netherlands, and his wife, Prince Laurentien who wore a Laurel Wreath Diamond Tiara.

King Willem-Alexander and President Macron delivered a short speech each during the reception renewing their commitment to strengthen diplomatic relations between France and The Netherlands.
