The Spanish Royal House is the only reigning royal house in Europe that has no working family members. The two older sisters of His Majesty - Infanta Elena and Infanta Cristina - are no longer working royals. They are not receiving any allowances also from the state.

The King's mother, Queen Sofia, only performs royal duties related to her charities but not on behalf of the Crown. Since the financial scandal and controversies involving the former King, Juan Carlos, and Infanta Cristina's previous controversies, the Spanish Royal House restricted working royals to King Felipe's direct family only.
