Prince Christian's First State Council Meeting Overshadowed by Father's Infidelity Rumors

 Prince Christian State Council

Prince Christian of Denmark, who turned 18 on October 15, attended his first Council of State meeting today, November 14, for his Solemn Declaration to abide by the Danish Constitution.

According to the Danish Royal Family's official website, this step/ceremony is necessary as Prince Christian is the future Danish monarch and a possible regent in the event that his grandmother, Queen Margrethe II, and his father, Crown Prince Frederik, cannot perform their stately obligations.

Prince Christian's swearing-in ceremony today, November 14, in the presence of the reigning monarch, Queen Margrethe II, and the Crown Prince, Frederik, is the first time in Danish history that three generations attended the meeting of the State Council for the swearing-in ceremony.

In 1902, Prince Christian (the future Christian X), made his solemn declaration at the meeting of the State Council but it was only his father, Crown Prince Frederik (the future King Frederick VIII) who accompanied him. His grandfather, King Christian IX, did not attend.

However, this is the first time in over 100 years that the Danish throne has two male heirs in direct succession to the throne who are already of legal age to possibly step in as regent. The last similar situation was during the reign of King Christian IX when he had two direct male successors of legal age - his son, Crown Prince Frederik, and his grandson Prince Christian.

Infidelity Rumors on Crown Prince Frederik

The first State Council meeting of the 18-year-old Prince Christian has been overshadowed by his father's infidelity rumors. The Danish Royal Family's official social media accounts were flooded with comments about the controversy for five days now.

The infidelity rumors started days ago after Spanish publication Lecturas shared photos of Crown Prince Frederik, 55, and the 47-year-old Mexican socialite, Genoveva Casanova, former wife of the 4th Duke of Arjona in Spain, on a night out in Madrid, Spain in October this year.

According to the report, Crown Prince Frederik and Genoveva know each other and have common friends. “They usually meet several times a year,” according to Lecturas reports.

Crown Prince Frederik and Genoveva reportedly enjoyed a night out in Madrid together after attending a Pablo Picasso Exhibition in October. They walked through El Retiro Park and later went out for dinner, then headed to her apartment building separately, changed clothes, and re-emerged after two hours.

Lecturas claimed Crown Prince Frederik and Genoveva Casanova watched a flamenco performance at a Spanish restaurant, El Corral de la Moreria, until midnight.

Following the publication, Genoveva issued a furious statement vehemently denying the affair. She said: "I categorically deny the statements that suggest a romantic relationship between Prince Frederik and me. Any statement of this type not only completely lacks the truth but also misrepresents the facts in a malicious manner"

Insiders close to Casanova have insisted that she and Crown Prince Frederik are just “old friends” who have “several mutual acquaintances”.

Meanwhile, the Danish royal family seemed unperturbed by the controversy and did not issue any statement regarding the rumors. It's business as usual for the Crown Prince couple of Denmark.
