Duchess of Cambridge Once Mistaken as Prince William's Assistant. See Her Response

The incident happened in August 2021 when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to Shire Hall Care Home in Cardiff, Wales.

Shire Hall Care Home houses the elderly, and some of them are already suffering from dementia.

The residents had previously met the royal couple via the video conference in 2020.

In May 2020 during the first lockdown, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a great time with the residents of Shire Hall Care Home when they facilitated virtually a bingo game, so they decided to pay them a visit in August 2021.

While talking to the elderly (related photo below), suddenly, one of the residents, Joan Drew-Smith, 87, who also left them in stitches during the virtual bingo game in May 2020, pointed to Kate, then asked Prince William, "Is that your assistant?"

The Duchess of Cambridge could not help but burst into laughter. And turned to Prince William, "Well, I am your assistant", she said, laughing. "I have been for a long time".

Joan Drew-Smith was the same person during the virtual game who was not impressed with how Their Royal Highnesses facilitated the game 😂

In the Royal Rota podcast of ITV News Royal Editor, Chris Ship, and Producer Lizzie Robinson, they revealed that William and Kate were reduced to fits of giggles by a cheeky resident named Joan.

Chris Ship told listeners: "Of course with any bingo game, there's always a winner, someone gets full house first. It was Joan on this occasion that got the full house. We might have been impressed with William and Kate's bingo calling, but Joan was not".

In the video, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were seen cheering the residents when Joan's win was announced.

One of the care home staff told Joan that she won the game, and the royal couple congratulated her.  Joan then asked the couple how are they. The Duke replied that they are "very well".

The Duke of Cambridge also asked Joan, "How did we do at bingo? Was it okay?".

Joan shot back: "Yes, very good. But it was not as good as it should have been".

Joan's comment prompted a howl of laughter from the residents and staff, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

During the actual visit, Prince William reminded Joan about the virtual bingo game, saying "You might not recognize us with the face masks but we did the bingo with you. And you said we did not do a very good job".

Joan then replied: "No. You did a bloody s***** job".

Her comment made everyone laugh again. An amused Prince William said, "Excellent. Was is it bad? Was it the worse you have ever seen?".

Joan replied: "I've got more to see. Every time you have a party I will just come and have a nose and I will tell you afterward". 😂

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge surely had a good time during their meeting with the elderly at the Shire Hall Care Home.

They also paid tribute to care workers and other front-liners who worked tirelessly during the pandemic.
