Stuff that fairytales are made of! This is how we describe the feeling while watching the live stream (from NRK television network in Norway) of Princess Ingrid Alexandra's 18th birthday gala dinner last night.
It was so magical and resplendent, to say the least! Watching royal family members walk in the glittery palace's hall wearing their sparkling jewels, gorgeous gowns, and sash reminded us of some fairytale movies where characters glide down the castle hall during ancient dance performances. Princes and kings were equally dapper in their evening suits and neatly combed hair.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway's 18th birthday gala dinner, which took place on June 17, 2022, at The Royal Palace in Oslo, saw the gathering of foreign royals, which we have not seen in recent years.
Her 18th birthday gala dinner was hosted by her grandparents, King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway.

The princess's turned 18 in January this year but the gala dinner was postponed due to the pandemic. Only this June that the event made possible. And it's so amazing to watch her transform into the stunning lady that she became now.Â

Princess Catharina-Amalia, the Princess of Orange, walked in the arm of King Felipe VI of Spain, who attended the event without his wife, Queen Letizia. Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended the event with her daughter, the Duchess of Brabant because King Philippe had a public engagement already scheduled.

Rare groupie of future Crown Heads
It's so rare to see four young future queens and a grand duke posed for a group photo! And this might never happen again in a couple of years! It's so cute to see the two-year-old Prince Charles of Luxembourg, who seemed so oblivious to what was happening around him, seated in front for the royal snaps.Â

The Tiara Debut!
One of the most exciting royally things during the gala dinner was the tiara debut of three future queens: Princess Ingrid Alexandra, The Duchess of Brabant (Princess Elisabeth of Belgium), and The Princess of Orange (Princess Catharine-Amalia of The Netherlands). Princess Estelle is still a baby to wear a tiara so she was given a flower headdress to put around her head instead.

The Princess of Orange wore her mother's wedding tiara, the Pearl Button Tiara, and opted for the star diamonds instead of the pearl buttons, just like her mother did on her wedding day.Â
The Duchess of Brabant wore a tiara that was not seen before in the Belgian jewelry collection, so many have thoughts it's a new piece custom-made for her or might be a convertible diamond necklace that can be worn as a head sparkler.Â

The Boucheron Pearl Circlet Tiara is not a family heirloom but a new item purchased by Prince Carl of Sweden from Boucheron in 1900 for his wife, Princess Ingeborg. They were the parents of Queen Astrid of Belgium (grandmother of King Philippe of Belgium) and Crown Princess Martha of Norway (mother of King Harald V).Â
It was inherited by King Harald's older sister, Princess Ragnhild, Mrs. Lorentzen. When the princess died in 2012, the tiara was returned to King Harald V and was handed down to his granddaughter, Princess Ingrid Alexandra.

The princess's regal look for the evening
Princess Ingrid Alexandra stunned the viewers with her glamorous look for the evening. She's so exquisitely beautiful and gorgeous in her Alberta Ferretti plum dress, perfectly complemented by her head sparkler.
According to an article in Norway Post, the princess's dress is not a new item but a dress previously worn by her mother, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, during a visit of the Japanese imperial couple in 2005. So practically, Princess Ingrid Alexandra did not buy any new items for the gala dinner, she just wore pieces from her family.
Her great aunt, Princess Astrid, Mrs. Ferner, the only surviving sibling of King Harald V, was the one who gave the detailed descript of the tiara, and she was slightly emotional because it's a sentimental piece that belonged to her grandmother.
She said: "It means a great deal to me that the tiara has now been given to Princess Ingrid Alexandra", Princess Astrid said. "It is a beautiful tiara made of interlocking diamond circles set in platinum. The button-style diamond and pearl elements are later additions. Grandfather (she meant Prince Carl of Sweden) purchased the tiara for Grandmother (Princess Ingeborg of Denmark) when they were attending the Paris Exposition in 1900", Princess Astrid added. "Grandfather bought this for my grandmother because it was lighter to wear on important occasions".
Princess Ingrid Alexandra completed her royal looks by wearing a sash and star of the Order of St. Olav and the three small medals, and her grandfather's jubilee medal.
