Princess Martha Louise of Norway, the eldest child of King Harald V of Norway and Queen Sonja, has been dating the spiritual guru, Durek Verrett, also known as Shaman Durek, since 2019.Â
Today, they announced their official engagement. Durek Verrett posted a photo on his instagram with Princess Martha Louise flashing her engagement ring.Â
He wrote a caption: "She said YES! When you know you know. There is nothing better than having clarity as a man that the woman that stands in front of you is the one. I'm overjoyed with tears that I get to spend the rest of my life with the most pure-hearted, angelic, wise, powerhouse woman who represents all levels of a goddess in my eyes"
The Norwegian Royal Family has yet to confirm the engagement news. Though the princess and her three daughters remained in the line of succession to the Norwegian throne, they are not working members of the royal family.
Her relationship with Durek Verrett has been widely criticized in Norway, calling Durek a con artist.
In May 2019, they announced their relationship. In an interview with People magazine, Durek addressed skeptics and shared details about his unconventional romance with the Norwegian princess.
"We're holding the same frequency of love for the planet", Durek said. "And that is worth everything".
Durek and Princess Martha Louise shared the same belief in supernatural things, astrology, power of the stars, and what's beyond in the universe. They also both promote spiritual healing.
Durek once claimed that he lived with Princess Martha Louise in Egypt in a past life. "When we're together and I look at her, sometimes I see another face," he said. "And she sees it in me too. I have memories of us in Egypt, and she was my queen and I was a pharaoh".
He has faced strong criticism in Norway, with many Norwegians voicing their disapproval, calling Verrett a ‘charlatan’.Â
Both Verrett and Princess Martha have responded to this negative perception openly to various news outlets.
Princess Martha Louise addressed their critics:Â "To those of you who feel the need to criticize, hold your shoes", she said. "It is not up to you to choose for me or to judge me. I don't choose my man to satisfy any of you or the norms or boxes you have chosen in your mind for me to be in. I don't thrive there, nor do I exist in your illusion about me. I choose love".

He was born in 1974 in Sacramento, California. He is of Haitian origin. He is a self-professed Shaman - a person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of good and evil spirits. Typically such people enter a trance state during a ritual and practice divination and healing.
He is the author of a book, Spirit Hacking, which was heavily criticized as just "the ramblings of an insane man"
Durek Verrett is the spiritual guru of actress, Gwyneth Paltrow. He doesn't rely on medicines or plants or earthly tools, according to Vanity Fair.
He goes right to the top, to the spirits themselves, so that he can clear communication in times of breakdown.
First marriage of Princess Martha Louise
She was previously married to author and visual artist, Ari Behn. They had three daughters: Maud Angelica, Leah Isadora, and Emma Tallulah.Â
Ari Behn and Princess Martha Louise got married in 2002. They announced their separation in 2016. Their divorce was finalized in 2017.Â
On Christmas day in 2019, Ari Behn committed suicide. It was revealed later that Ari was suffering from depression.
Princess Martha Louise is currently fourth in the line of succession to the Norwegian throne and 73rd in the British throne line of succession as a great-granddaughter of Queen Maud (who was born Princess Maud of Wales, the younger sister of King George V).
