Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark finally met her four grandchildren since she stripped them of their royal titles in September 2022.

Count Nikolai, Count Felix, Count Henrik, and Countess Athena of Monpezat are children of the Queen's youngest son, Prince Joachim.

They were stripped of their titles of Prince and Princess by their grandmother in September 2022, which took effect in January this year, to streamline the Danish monarchy and allow them to choose the life path they want without the trappings of royalty.

This public appearance of the Danish royal family came a month after Queen Margrethe II underwent back surgery which made her unable to attend public engagements the past months.

Due to her ongoing physical rehabilitation, she will be represented by Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary at King Charles's Coronation ceremony next month.

Meanwhile, Prince Joachim's family is scheduled to move to the United States in September this year as he will take the role of a Defense attache in the Danish embassy in Washington DC. It could be recalled that Prince Joachim expressed his dismay publicly over his mother's decision to strip his four children of their royal titles.
