Princess Alexia of The Netherlands, who just obtained her international baccalaureate diploma at the UWC of the Atlantic in Wales, made her first solo public engagement to Rotterdam on September 9, 2023.

The 18-year-old second-in-line to the Dutch throne spearheaded the naming ceremony of the vessel Vox Alexia, named after her, at the Rotterdam port.

The VOX Alexia is a trailing suction hopper dredger built by international marine contractor, Van Oord. During the ceremony, Princess Alexia said, "I baptize you Vox Alexia, and wish you and your crew a preserved voyage". Princess Alexia then took a look onboard the vessel and talked with the crew members.

According to the Dutch House's official social media account, "The hopper vacuum cleaner is an excavator ship that can, for example, suck sand, clay, slime from the water, and deposit it in another location.

Furthermore, the Vox Alexia can sail on liquefied natural gas which helps mitigate carbon dioxide emissions and can help lower carbon footprints compared to drag hopper pumps. It will be immediately deployed after the "baptism" ceremony.

Princess Alexia's sustainable fashion

As more royals showed support for the sustainable development movement, some of them began re-wearing outfits during public appearances. And young royals even borrow the dresses of their moms to be more sustainable.

The latest royal to do this is Princess Alexia.

At the naming ceremony on Saturday, she re-wore her mother's dress. The gorgeous navy ruffled midi dress with exposed sleeves was previously worn by Queen Maxima. It is an Oscar de la Renta dress.

Princess Alexia added a youthful vibe to the style by curling her blonde hair, allowing it to drape at her back. She completed her look with a pair of beige suede sandals from Gianvito Rossi.

Queen Maxima's three daughters - The Princess of Orange, Princess Alexia, and Princess Arianne, were seen on numerous occasions, re-wearing her outfits, earrings, shoes, and other accessories.

This royal trend of borrowing dresses and other stuff from mothers has been ongoing among the royal princesses in the continent - Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway (from her mother Crown Princess Mette-Marit), Princess Alexandra of Hanover (from her mother, Monaco's Princess Caroline), and Leonor, the Princess of Asturias (from Queen Letizia).

Princess Alexia is expected to begin her university studies this autumn, although the Dutch Royal House has not shared any details about where the princess attends the university. Her older sister, The Princess of Orange, is currently studying at a public university in Amsterdam.
