Prince George of Cambridge, the eldest child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, turns nine years old today, July 22, 2022. He was born George Alexander Louis on July 22, 2013, more than two years after the marriage of his parents.

His three names honored various royal relatives: George for Kings George VI of Britain (his great-great grandfather) and George I of Greece (his great-great-great grandfather). Alexander for Prince Alexander of Hesse, the maternal great-grandfather of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Louis for Lord Louis Mountbatten, maternal uncle of Prince Philip, and Prince Charles' honorary grandfather.

With Prince George's birth, the Queen has now three male heirs in direct succession to the throne, the first time that happened since the birth of Prince David in 1894, during the reign of Queen Victoria. David reigned for just 11 months as Edward VIII.

Prince George has two younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The family has two homes: Kensington Palace in London and Anmer Hall in Sandringham, Norfolk.

His formal education began in 2016 when he attended the Westacre Montessori School Nursery, near his family home at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

He attended his first day of primary school on September 7, 2017 at the Thomas's School in Battersea, near Kensington Palace in London. He attends the school under the name of George Cambridge.

However, this next school year, his education still needs to be determined if he will continue studying at Battersea with Princess Charlotte or will move to a nearby school in Berkshire as the Cambridge family will be moving to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor this summer, according to reports.

He met US President Barack Obama and US First Lady, Michelle Obama in April 2016 during the American first family's visit to Britain, where President Obama joked "Prince George came up to our meeting in his bathrobe", referring to the young prince's attire that resembled a bath robe.

Since 2020, Prince George regularly accompanied his parents to public events, giving him a glimpse of what royal roles are all about, which someday he would undertake. He also began wearing formal suit to get used to, what other commentators referred as the "royal armor".

He first attended a church service in Westminster Abbey with the royal family on March 29, 2022, at the memorial service of his great-grandfather, Prince Philip. And on June 3, 2022, he made a carriage debut with his siblings during the Trooping the Color ceremony.

He was also present in many public events during the Queen's Jubilee Celebration in June and appeared with the Royal Family in the balcony during the finale day of the celebration.

Just recently, he appeared with his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, at the finals of the men's singles at the Wimbledon Championships where he revealed his favorite player, Novak Djokovic.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who just recently took the limelight as a budding photographer when she was commissioned by the Duchess of Cornwall to take her photos for a magazine cover, regularly snapped her children for birthday portraits.

For Prince George's 9th birthday photo, Kate photographed her son on a beach, just like Prince Louis' birthday photos in April this year.

It is believed the location is in a Norfolk coast or Isles of Scilly in Cornwall where the family spent a quick summer break last week.

Princess Charlotte's birthday photos in May this year were taken in Anmer gardens in Norfolk where she was seen hugging their family dog, Orla. Both siblings' birthday portraits were photographed by the Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince George's photo released last year to mark his 8th birthday was surreal as he was seen sitting in a Land Rover owned by his great-grandfather, Prince Philip, who died in April last year.
