Princess Charlotte Steals the Show As She Pulls Funny Faces at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham

Princess Charlotte attends Commonwealth games

It's so rare to see Princess Charlotte, who turned 7 in May this year, accompanying her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to a public event without her older brother, Prince George. But earlier today, August 2, at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, the young princess tagged along with her parents to watch the game.

The Cambridges were joined by The Earl and Countess of Wessex, and their children, Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn, on the stand cheering the athletes in the swimming event at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre.

Seated between her parents, Princess Charlotte looked visibly delighted with what was going on in the games. She pulled funny faces reminiscent of her younger brother, Prince Louis' antics during the Queen's Jubilee Week.

However, the version of Princess Charlotte is more reserved and girly-like as she looked tense and thrilled watching the relays.

At one point, she was seen with her jaw dropped, and later, she cheekily stuck her tongue out as the relays became intense.

Prince William was seen explaining something to his daughter, and Charlotte cracked a smile as the competition came to a close.

Her reaction, however, is typical and normal for a youngster who is watching an intense sports competition. Even adults will also pull faces when engrossed in watching games.

Overall, it was an exciting public outing for the young princess because she was accompanying her parents without her brothers. She was also on her best behavior all throughout the event.

We don't see much of Prince George pulling funny expressions when watching games in public, but his sister and younger brother, Prince Louis, are more expressive with their kiddy emotions. And it's so relatable. Children are always true to their real emotions.

Prince William's uncle, the Earl of Wessex, is the Vice-Patron of the Commonwealth Games Federation. Prince Edward, his wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, and their children, Louise and James have been attending various events throughout the Commonwealth Games.

Royal fans were delighted by Princess Charlotte's appearance as it came days after she appeared with her father in a video message to the Lionesses ahead of the Euro 2022 final.

The fourth in line to the British throne also looked adorable in a striped summer dress from Rachel Riley. The outfit featured a Peter Pan collar, and white strappy sandals. The striped stretch-cotton dress has a tag price of £30.

The designer, Rachel Riley, was delighted upon hearing Princess Charlotte wore her design today. Hello! Magazine reached out to her for a comment.

"It was such a treat to see!", says Riley via Hello! It was a delightful surprise, I wasn’t expecting it at all and was gardening at the time! I became aware of the picture when my friends and family started sending me messages asking if the dress was one of ours!"

Rare Moment without Her Iconic Engagement Engagement 💍

Since the announcement of their engagement in November 2010, the Duchess of Cambridge is rarely seen in public without wearing her iconic engagement ring, which previously belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales.

Rare moment where the Duchess didn't wear her iconic engagement ring

Kate always wore it in public even in a complex situation such as going to the sea. She wore her oval-shaped Ceylon Sapphire engagement ring when she joined the SailGP at high-speed sailing race in Plymouth.

But during her Commonwealth Games appearance with Prince William and Princess Charlotte, royal fans noticed that the Duchess of Cambridge didn't wear her famous ring.

It's no surprise to other royal observers anyway because other royal wives such as Queen Letizia of Spain and Princess Charlene of Monaco often graced public events without their engagement ring.
