The Queen's fitness routines and a diet plan:

1. Tricep Dips on the Wall

The Queen's former personal trainer, Jose Ignacio Hernandez-Coronado, revealed that she works out every day. She also wakes up early, around 7:00 in the morning, and jogs in the Zarzuela Palace garden.

She is doing a "tricep dips on the wall" workout. Tricep dips build muscle and are basically upper-body workouts focusing on inverse push-ups.

To do a tricep dip exercise, you need to position your body belly-up and bend your elbows to hit your triceps, pecs, delts, and core. According to fitness professionals, Tricep dips give you strong upper arms, a toned chest, and a metabolic boost.

The triceps exercise serves to tone the arms. It's one of the most challenging types of exercise that women do but Queen Letizia does the wall dip, which is the easier.

This type of workout builds the load with your weight and can be achieved by pushing your arms against the wall at an angle of 45 degrees.

Here's how to do a Tricep dip on the wall:

  1. Stand a few feet away from a wall.
  2. Place your hands just wider than your shoulders on the wall.
  3. With your arms parallel to your sides, bend your elbows and lower your body towards the wall until your elbows are at 90-degree angles.
  4. Return and repeat, making sure your back is kept straight.

Queen Letizia also performs curl of biceps with weights, bar, or total body resistance equipment. She also does a stationary bike.

Her younger sister, Telma Ortiz Rocasolano, said Queen Letizia enjoys Iyengar yoga, a kind of yoga that let you hold positions for a longer time than in other yoga styles.

What is Iyengar yoga?

It was founded and developed by an Indian author and yoga expert, B. K. S. Iyengar. It is a form of a yoga exercise that emphasizes detail, precision, and alignment in the performance of yoga postures or asanas.

Iyengar yoga makes use of props such as cushions, benches, belts, blocks, and blankets as aids in performing the asanas. The props aim to minimize the risk of injury or strain.

According to a yoga guru, Iyengar yoga focuses on three aspects: alignment, sequencing, and timing. Alignment means maintaining the intended pose while respecting the body's boundaries.

Sequencing refers to the order in which the postures practiced safe and structured progression of the poses along with the opening and balance of the physical and emotional body.

Timing means yoga poses are held for longer periods of time. For instance, when your arms are pushing the wall while stretching your one leg backward, you will hold this position for five minutes.

When stability is achieved in a pose, you will then safely intensify the depth of the posture. This develops strength and flexibility along with sensitivity and awareness between the body and mind.

In recent years, Iyengar yoga has seen an increased number of older people participating the exercise because of its health benefits and metabolism boosts.

Iyengar yoga helps Queen Letizia achieve impressive abs and lean arms because holding each pose helps build strength in the body.

Queen Letizia trains in the family's private gym and does weight exercises, some cardio, and kickboxing workouts but she is more hooked on a modality of yoga - that is the Iyengar yoga.

So shall we start doing Iyengar yoga now? 😄
